The reason I made this was because firstly Baby EJ loved to climb over his play yard (Yes, he was really climbing over), secondly, he loved to play rough & always bumped his poor head.
So, I went to Daiso to buy these cushions to make a DIY Baby cot bumper. 1 cushion is $2 at Daiso and I needed 15 cushions for the whole play yard..
What I love about Daiso cushion is it's made by cotton, light & breathable, thus it's easy to sew. Of course, it's very pretty too, I love the floral design :)
You can also DIY this for baby cot, I think you need 10 cushions to DIY for baby cot. These cushions are not only cheap, but these are also safe to use as baby cot bumper as it's breathable, thus, no need to worry about SIDS.
It's super easy to DIY:
1) Prepare 15 cushions (for play yard with extension) or 10 cushions (for baby cot)
2) Sew (you can use either hands or sewing machine) one cushion to the other cushion, then continue sewing again one to another and so on.. (just like a long train)
3) These beautiful cushions come with strings.. So, tie these strings over play yard/baby crib to secure it
4) You can also cut those cushion strings, replace & sew it to another side as you wish (go ahead if you think it's better & easier to tie the string over baby crib in the middle or perhaps 3/4 from the left or right of cushion). You can customize as you wish!
I bought so many cushions and I looked like a Santa Claus mommy in February, ho-ho-ho!!
Let's do the sewing!
Done! And now it's super safe for Baby EJ to play in his play yard.. No more climbing over... No more head bumping.. DIY is cheap & effective.. This DIY costs me only $30 compared to buying 2 sets of baby cot bumper that could easily cost over $300..
Happy Do-It-Yourself, mommies!!
