My Diaper Tips, Pampers Journey Part 4

Here we are!! It's already PART 4 of our journey with Pampers Baby Dry and for the past one month, having Pampers Baby Dry is our life is a blessing. Not only, I don't need to put on cloth diaper on Baby EJ anymore (of course, it saves so much of my time cleaning his poop off his cloth diaper and saves water too, hee-hee..), his bum remains soft & clean ~ totally free of rashes. I'm really grateful to be given an opportunity to try on Pampers Baby Dry and I'm a big fan now ~ going to use Pampers Baby Dry for long term & also my next newborn, hee-hee...

Part 4 of my journey with Pampers Baby Dry is about Diaper-related tips. I'm sure every mommy is different, tips are very individual too.. One works for one baby, may not work for the other baby. So, it's really nice to hear diaper tips from other mommies too, right??

Here are my tips that are so far workable for baby EJ since he was a newborn and of course, different stage of baby's life requires different technique of cleaning & changing. The older, the more difficult to change and to care baby's bottom, especially those active young toddlers who are busily walking, hee-hee... (like baby EJ)

Stuff you need:

1) Baby wipes
2) Clean Water + Cotton balls/wipes. (Use boiled water if the baby is still a newborn)
3) Diaper cream/ointment

And the last one, diaper (obviously)

TIP NO 1: Some babies have more sensitive skin than other babies, so baby wipes might not be suitable for all babies, if your baby has super sensitive bum, don't use baby wipes when baby pees, just dip cotton balls/wipes into a cup of clean water and wipe baby's bum. After all, urine is sterile.

If baby poops, you can still clean & wipe with baby wipes, but make sure to rinse one more time with clean water (same easy technique, use the wet-with water cotton balls/wipes) and make sure you apply diaper cream/ointment to protect baby's healthy bum too..

TIP NO 2: For babies who struggle a lot during diaper change. I understand while it's easier to change when baby is just peeing, how about pooping?? Imagine, the baby is super active, trying to flip over, turning around, sitting down, or even standing up during diaper change ~ pooping, omg!!! poops will be all over your changing station.. Yucky!! So my advise? Bring the baby directly to the toilet, carry him in the upward position/standing up, take off his diaper, wipe his poops with baby wipes while he's standing up in the basin (hold him with one hand, of course) turn on your water, clean the baby's bum with either hand or towel and finally wipe him dry with towel. Simple as that!! You can even clean him at shower, it's so much easier than struggling to clean him up on the bed or changing station. You don't want to change & clean up your bed sheet over and over again, right? Hee-hee

Right now, baby EJ is on tip no 2.

TIP NO 3: If your baby has super bad rashes. It's best to let him wear cloth diaper in the afternoon temporarily. Let his skin rest until it gets better. But it's still pretty impossible to wear cloth diaper at night because you don't want to wake him up every 2-3 hours for diaper change, right? But even to wear cloth diaper in the afternoon during healing period, it's good enough, trust me!! Of course, don't forget your more intensive nappy treatment, yeah?

Baby EJ's cloth diapers collection ~ but seldom wear it now since Pampers Baby Dry was introduced to us ~ he's currently wearing Pampers Baby Dry 24/7 and so far, no nappy rashes at all!!

TIP NO 4: Change your baby's diaper every 3 hours (regardless cloth diaper or disposable diaper), except night/sleeping time. Good diaper like Pampers Baby Dry can protect your baby from wetness for 12 hours, so it's totally alright to leave him sleep overnight. Change every 2 hours if your baby is wearing cloth diaper. Regular diaper change can protect your baby from nasty nappy rash!

TIP NO 5: Choose a good diaper! If your current diaper gives your baby bad nappy rash, try other brands, keep trying until you get one good & suitable one for your baby! Try Pampers Baby Dry! It's so good on baby EJ's sensitive bum & I'm sure it won't cause nappy rashes on your baby's bum too (but still have to remember to care your baby's bum regularly, especially when he poops)

For super active baby like baby EJ, changing his diaper while him laying down on the bed is pretty impossible, the moment I put his bum down, he will get up right away ~ and ready to play ~ sigh!

But with Pampers Baby Dry, I can change him while he's standing up ~ I don't need to guess, re-do and re-adjust on how tight or loose I should put the diaper on him, but instead I just need to remember what number he's on now! Simple! He's currently super comfortable with no.2 ~ so I just stick to number 2 and I don't have to worry if it's going to be too tight or what! Easy!

Another thing I notice & I like from Pampers Baby Dry is that it has a little stretchable rubber in the diaper tape portion. And I love it! It makes diaper changing much easier because I can adjust easily by pulling it a little to the side I want. Kind of flexible and it's very nice feature of diaper for super active baby like baby EJ. Hee-hee..

And of course, with Pampers Baby Dry diapers, your baby can get up to 12 hours of overnight protection, which helps him get the uninterrupted sleep he needs for a great morning. Plus, Baby Dry has 3 layers of absorbency versus only 2 in an ordinary diaper. And with a wide UltraAbsorb layer, Baby Dry offers outstanding leakage protection and flexes for a snug, comfortable fit. Pampers Baby Dry diapers are available in sizes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Baby EJ is currently wearing size 5 (XL)

Playtime with Baby EJ, Pampers Journey Part 3

As a mother, my days are filled with wonderful & rewarding experience. Motherhood is simply a joy, with so much fun, love and joyous memories. My baby boy grows up so quickly, so every moment with him is so precious and I have to cherish every moment of his life, including his milestone and of course playtime.

Playtime is not all about having fun, while it looks like baby EJ having so much fun during playtime, but playtime can also develop baby EJ's social, language & intellectual skills.

Baby EJ loves to interact with other babies, so I have been inviting friends & their babies for a fun loving play date activity and the first play date baby EJ had was with baby Olivia and at that time, baby EJ was 6 months old and baby Olivia was 1 year old. It was so lovely to see both babies playing together and it was amazing to see how baby can be easily fascinated by other baby by simply just looking at each other or touching one another and they just smiled. Their simple act brought so much joy & happiness and only babies can do it!

Watching babies play and have fun together is simply a joyous experience :)

With my friend Audrey and her super adorable baby girl, Olivia. Baby EJ was 6 months old and it was his first play date

The recent play date was with baby Naomi.. Baby Naomi was super cute and baby EJ liked her a lot.
They look so sweet together, don't they? God, please bless me with a sweet daughter as soon as possible! Hee-hee

Baby EJ loves to play with balloons and it seems like he gets fascinated easily by balloons, yes lots of balloons. He loves to chase & catch balloons and he will never get bored of these balloons. It's just so lovely to see my baby to play with simple thing and that simple thing brings so much happiness to him.. It also makes me realize that baby can be easily satisfied, unlike adults. So, who needs expensive toys for the little ones while he can be so contented with cheap & simple balloons?

Balloons are his favorite!
Video of baby EJ playing with balloons

And playing with his favorite penguin toy.

Can we play now, mommy?

I'm showing you my new magic trick, mommy!!

Oh-uh, you are not convinced, mommy? Let's call daddy to play with me now!!

Feeling "dry" during play time is very important because baby will feel more comfortable during that fun play time, plus no one likes the feeling of 'hot & wet', right?

I didn't change baby EJ's diaper at all during his fun play time with his friends because I used Pampers Baby Dry to keep baby EJ dry for so many hours. And he was having so much fun without complaining at all (or being cranky). This is why I only trust Pampers Baby Dry now!

LOVELY BABY is the result of good bonding, PART 2 journey with Pampers

Every child is a blessing and every child is a gift. 26 April last year, my precious child was born after going through 12 hours of painful and challenging labor I thought I would never make it.

I remember how my tears streamed down my cheeks when I heard his cry for the first time because it was the best moment in my life. My tears couldn't stop flowing from my eyes when I looked at him and when I held him for the first time and in mind he was beautiful and how lucky and blessed I was to have him.. I knew it was an immediate natural bond between a mom and her child. Bonding with a baby is a beautiful thing a mother ever experienced in her life.

And thanks to Pampers for the blogging collaboration opportunity. Here I am to share with my readers my tips on caring for my baby boy through bonding or connecting.

1) Hugging & Cuddling

Hugging & Cuddling can be the best medicine for both mom and baby. Ever heard one story of a very premature baby breathed well again after being cuddled by his birth mother? No doubt, it's the best way of bonding with your baby.

Bonding time with mommy although he can't stop moving!

2) Kissing him

Need I say more? Kissing a baby is an instant love in the air. It's one of the strongest feelings. I just feel I'm in love whenever I kiss him. It's kind of maternal feeling too!

3) Smelling his scent

Oh Gosh, I swear baby's scent is the best scent in the world, so much better than any perfumes in the market. Baby's scent works like drugs on mother's brain.

His hair is the best scent ever

4) Feeling his soft hair & skin

Touching his hair & skin is a serious addiction and I remember touching him all the time when I nursed him when he was a little. Soft baby hair & skin, how long will it remain soft? Touch, feel and smell when it lasts. Touching the lovely baby is a pure happiness.

Those little toes and fingers won't remain tiny forever

5) Carrying him

Showing him I'm there when he needs me. Carrying him all the time will not let him be too "pampered" but it's to let him know mommy is here to love and care him. Carrying gives baby a sense of security

Baby EJ when he was a newborn

6) Spending time to play

I'm not only his mommy but his play mate too.. It's for him to trust me at a very early age that mommy can be his friend, thus there won't be any secrets between good friends when he grows up. Another way to bond with your baby is through play time.

Playing peek-a-boo with mommy and I love how he hugs me from behind. It's the best feeling ever!

7) Family time

I love to spend certain timing at night to have family bonding with both my son & husband. It's normally at 8PM, when all of us have had our dinner & taken our shower, we will jump into our big bed just to play wrestling with the baby (in a gentle way, of course). Even a family cuddling means so much to us. It's a strong way of bonding and a way to show my son that even though daddy is very busy at work, but he's always there to bond with his baby.

Having family time with busy daddy

8) Singing & Talking

I sing and talk to him every single day and I sing to him to sleep. His favorite nursery songs? Many! Ba-Ba-Black Sheep, Twinkle-Twinkle Star, London Bridge, ABC, Brother John, and many more. I also sing to him Indonesian nursery songs, my Singaporean husband can't understand a word but he said Indonesian nursery songs are nice. Hehee..

9) Comforting him when he cries or falls down

My baby boy is actively walking now and he often falls down. (that's part of growing up). Comforting him makes him feel secured and lets him know mommy is always there even he's having bad times. In fact, mommy is always there, good and bad days!

10) Sleeping next to him, comfort him when he has a nightmare

He has been sleeping with us for the past a few months and I couldn't be more than blessed sleeping next to my little man. He cures my insomnia. Seeing him sleeping beside me, it gives me a peaceful state of mind and I couldn't be sleeping better than this! Besides, it's easier to comfort him when he has a nightmare and he sleeps better with us than alone in his crib.

11) The first person he sees when he opens his eyes in the morning is MOMMY

And that makes him smile and makes my day better. What else can be better than a happy baby in the morning? He's not alone, he has his mommy, even in an early morning!

12) Saying "I LOVE YOU" all the time

You will never be too young or too old to express your love to your baby. Parents say, Baby follows. Soon or later, he will follow by saying "I Love You" and it will be the most beautiful words you've ever heard in your life! Trust me!

Mommy loves you, little EJ!

Who says having a baby can totally change your life and you are no longer your old self? Having a baby doesn't mean you're stuck with the same lifestyle but there are tips on how to improve your life after having a baby. Follow these tips and trust me, you will still be your old self (with just a little of an improved version of your old self) ^^

1) Having "Me" time once in a while

I'm a SAHM (Stay at home mum), but that doesn't mean I totally can't have "ME" time. I still can! At least once a while, I will let my mom in law take care my baby boy for a few hours while I'm doing my hair at hair salon or having massage or spa. Mothers work hard and deserve to get pampered once in a while!

Get my new hair done once a while and I truly deserve it! Every mommy does!

2) Sleep & Eat well

It was hard at the beginning, but as baby grew older, I have been slowly getting more and more sleep. Get as much sleep and naps as you can. Nap when baby naps. 7 hours of sleep at least! no less! Eat well and forget about dieting! After all, eating is a blessing and an ultimate enjoyment of life. Agree?

3) Go for a date

Don't feel guilty if you need to leave your baby with your helper or mom in law when you need to go for a romantic date with dearest husband. Who says marriage life with kid can be boring and less romantic? I still go on a date with my husband for a good dinner and movie once a week. And I don't feel guilty at all to leave my baby for a little while with my mom in law (because I know he's with good hands)

Beautiful roses from my husband for V's day. We are married but we CAN remain romantic as ever!

4) Don't be shy to ask for help

Ask for help if you can't handle it anymore or if you are too tired! Better to ask for help than to get stressed your self. When I was breastfeeding my baby, I needed to pump milk every 4 hours and who took care my baby when I was pumping milk? No doubt, anyone I could ask help from, my husband, mom in low, helper, niece even a neighbor auntie. Was I embarrassed? No!

5) Purse my passion

If you read my blog and follow me, you will know I have a huge passion in beauty and cosmetics stuff and I will never be young or old enough to follow the latest beauty trend. I buy cosmetics, put it on and write about it, wear cute dress, tie my hair with a pretty ribbon, put on Cheon Song Yi's (Man from the star) lipstick, Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick #52 Rosy Coral and I'm not ashamed at all because beauty is my passion and what makes me happy, that matters!

I hope you enjoy my writing and please visit http://www.everydayme.com.sg/pampers if you are free to check out more info about Pampers and of course, everydayme website has also interesting info on food, health & wellbeing, home & garden, style & beauty and smart shopping.

Rock-a-bye Baby with Pampers Part 1

Dearest Fellow Mommies,

Is your baby sleeping well? Do you agree that babies need their "golden sleep"? Having a good sleep will not only make baby's mood better and happier, but also having a good sleep will promote baby's growth and development. Having a good long sleep will promote baby's IQ too. That shows how important quality sleep with minimal disturbance.

I can consider myself a lucky mommy because Baby EJ has been sleeping pretty well recently. He does wake up once for milk but he will normally back to his sleep after having a bottle of warm milk midnight :) Maybe calling myself "lucky" is not enough, I guess I have been practicing some tips to make his sleep better too. And I think I should share my tips with fellow mommies here:) After all, sharing is caring, right? :)

Before sharing, I would like to thank omy.sg and Pampers for giving me the awesome opportunity to blog about my journey with Pampers, highlighting the importance of good sleep, caring for baby, playtime as well as diaper-related tips. And I hope to share my Pampers journey with fellow mommies here and please follow me :) Hope my sharing can be useful, yeah?? ^.~

Baby EJ is 1 year old and he's a big baby, thus wearing size 5 or XL ~.~

Pampers Baby Dry has up to 12 hours of overnight protection, which helps baby to get uninterrupted sleep for a wonderful morning. Pampers Baby Dry has 3 layers of absorbency versus only 2 in an ordinary diaper. It also offers outstanding leakage protection.

Here comes my night schedule with Baby EJ :) Are yours similar?

8 PM : At this timing, normally Baby EJ just finishes his dinner (porridge). He has his quick warm shower after that.

Tip no. 1: To promote a good sleep, after shower, I will massage his tummy using Yu Yee Oil. I notice that tummy massage before sleep promotes better sleep and Baby EJ will only wake up once for milk midnight.. It is also to prevent tummy-ache in baby because honestly we don't know whether baby is having tummy-ache or not. Baby doesn't talk! So, to be safe, apply Yu Yee Oil! This oil makes baby less gassy too, thus baby will have that comfortable sleep :)

8.15 PM: I dress him up in long comfortable pajamas. Not forgetting Pampers Baby Dry because a good diaper can prevent leaking, keep baby dry for the whole night, therefore, baby will sleep comfortably!

Baby EJ doesn't use blanket because he will kick his blanket away within minutes, so alternative option is to wear sleeping bag. The sleeping bag he's wearing is designed for warm weather. Thus, he sleeps well with his long pajamas + sleeping bag in an air-conditioned room.

Tip no. 2: Dress your baby in a comfortable night suit and make sure your baby is not too cold. How to check if baby is too cold? Touch his ear, does it feel cold? Touch his palm or foot, does it feel cold? If it's, your baby needs more clothing or blanket.

Anyway, at this age, diaper changing him is quite a challenge, so to make things easier for mommy, I always make sure to give him something ~ socks, toys, etc (however he prefers random stuff like plastic container, fan remote control, etc  *faint*)

Giving him his smelly socks while diaper-changing him :D

Task done! It's kind of a victory when the task is done heeheee...

8.30 PM: I turn on my air-con and try to make Baby EJ's room as cozy as possible. He sleeps better in air-conditioned room.

Tip no. 3: A good temperature is very important, mommies! So, please make sure your baby's room is not too warm. After all, babies sweat a lot and they get hot easily.

9PM: Baby EJ is actually quite ready to sleep but he prefers to have a little playtime before sleeping. So, I let him play for a while.

Tip no. 4: If your baby is not sleepy yet, don't force him to sleep, let him play for a while before bed time. Baby EJ sleeps well when he's tired but not too tired. I just make sure to let him play lightly ~ playing with toys or cuddling with mommy and daddy on the bed but absolutely no running around the house.

He's happily asking to play with mommy ;)

9:15PM: Milk time. He needs his warm milk before sleeping and he's sleeping well when his tummy is full :)

Tip no. 5: A bottle of warm milk can make baby sleep better

9.30PM: The prince is sleeping. Baby EJ loves to sleep in dark. I turn off the light once he's sleeping but I do use night lighting occasionally

Tip. no. 6: A night light can promote better sleep. Yellow bulb is the better one and good for the sleep :)

Hugging his giraffe friend when sleeping **too cute**

7AM: Baby EJ wakes up and look at his diaper. It's super heavy but no leaking at all.

Personally, Pampers Baby Dry is one of the best I've ever used. I don't change his diaper at all from 8PM to 7AM and that's about 11 hours already but I notice that Baby EJ's bum remains dry and he doesn't experience diaper rash at all.

Previously, I used other brand that absorbed urine pretty good, but the diaper surface was not soft enough, thus it resulted in red rashes on Baby EJ's bum. I even switched to the expensive brand that guaranteed 100% softness, yes, it was super soft but it leaked and I had to change his diaper middle of the night which I personally hated it ~ it disturbed Baby EJ's sleep so much :(

With Pampers Baby Dry, I don't have problems at all, it offers everything I want:
1) Good absorbency 2) No leaking 3) Softness ~ you know what? I'm a happy mama now (because happy baby is a happy mama or other way round yeah?)

No more leaking now :)

He's still a happy baby in the next morning :)

Try Pampers Baby Dry, mommies, for baby better sleep! I'm sure you will be happy with Pampers just like myself :)

Until Next Time,
~Mama of Baby EJ ~ 12 months old
