Calysta has been wearing the new Drypers Drynights for almost 1 month and yes it took me almost 1 month to try and do this genuine review. And here's what I thought:

1) Superior absorbency with longest absorption core

 

I normally clean Calysta up and change her a new fresh diaper at 6pm and usually Calysta sleeps at 8pm and I don't change her diaper until 7 or 8am in the next morning (more than 12 hours) The main reason is I just don't want to wake her up (when she wakes up, she refuses to sleep back and no thanks, my eyes are black enough!) and my other (selfish) reason is I need my beauty sleep (yes I seriously need it!)

And I'm impressed! NO leakages at all! She can mostly sleep through the night! She does latch midnight but it's more like dream/sleep latch and she doesn't wake up at all, thanks to the new Drypers Drynights, my baby girl sleeps comfortably!

From my experience being a mother, baby doesn't normally sleep comfortably when her diaper leaks and she's wet. Having to wear the new Drypers Drynights, it has NEVER been my case to change Calysta midnight or there's NO one night out of so many nights wearing Drypers Drynights she needs to wake up, change her diaper & wet pajamas!

Another product I really love! The scent is so good, it smells like my favorite baby powder.

Being a Mum of two, with both kids having close age difference of 19 months, fever is not unusual in our life. Fever has become quite an affair to me. Fever comes and goes. Fever comes (unwelcomed & uninvited) to my kids after vaccinations or after being contracted with some kind of viral infection or bacterial infection. I have been a big fan of KOOLFEVER patch for babies since EJ was an infant. KOOLFEVER stays one of the most important kits in my drawer. 

 

Being a Mum of two, handling a feverish baby or toddler is no longer a new thing for me. With 2 young kids under my care, I'm pretty confident on how to manage fever and I hope the tips I share here will be useful for moms-to-be or first time mums 

 

1) Paracetamol

 

Paracetamol syrup (pink color) is a safe medication prescribed by pediatrician for babies and toddlers and it's a must to have medication to control fever above 37.5 degrees. The dosage is normally prescribed according to the child's weight and can be taken every 4-6 hourly 

 

2) KOOLFEVER for babies & KOOLFEVER for children

 

I always use KOOLFEVER for both toddler & baby because it absorbs & disperses heat effectively. The size is just right & fits perfectly to my little one's forehead and doesn't displace at the slightest movement. It's also gentle for baby's skin as it doesn't contain fragrance or coloring. The best thing about KOOLFEVER is the cool effect lasts long, about 4 hours per sheet and I don't have to keep changing the fever sheet, unlike the old way fever compress. A must have baby essential!

3) KOOLFEVER for body

 

It's another smart innovation from KOOLFEVER I really like! A must have for me too! I use KOOLFEVER for body when my little one has a sudden high fever. Let's say fever jumping up from 37.5 to 39 degrees. Normally that will likely happen midnight. The first thing I do is to stay calm, feed paracetamol and use KOOLFEVER for body on the neck, wrists, underarms, inner thighs, ankles or any narrow parts of the body where the major arteries are found. My little one's temperature is effectively brought down. The cool effect lasts about 8 hours which is really awesome! 

 

4) KOOLFEVER soft cooling gel pillow

 

KOOLFEVER soft cooling gel pillow can be used for fever, sleepless and humid night. It contains special cooling gel that doesn't become frozen in the freezer. When my little one has fever, I wrap KOOLFEVER soft cooling gel pillow with towel and put it underneath my little one's head to help to bring down the fever. It's reusable simply by chilling in freezer again. The cooling effect will last for about 4-6 hours. 

 

 

 

5) Braun NTF3000 No Touch Plus Forehead Digital Thermometer.

 

Thermometer is a MUST and my advise to first time moms is get a digital thermometer because it's so worth it! Forehead digital thermometer is not only accurate but it's so convenient & easy to use. What I love about forehead digital thermometer is I can take my little one's temperature when he or she is sleeping. I don't have to be afraid of the little one waking up. I can take my little one's temperature without touching him or her which is really awesome! 

 

I have tested both ear and forehead thermometers and the difference is only -0.2 deg for forehead thermometer in comparison to ear thermometer. For instance, the temp using ear thermometer is 38.2 degrees and the temp using forehead thermometer would be 38 degrees and I would say it's accurate and I wouldn't doubt its accuracy at all. I get the same professional accuracy reading whether touching my little one's forehead or measuring up to 5 cm away

Another thing I like is there's a fever guidance like a green screen suggests no fever, a yellow screen suggests moderate fever and red signals high fever 

 

Most importantly is to stay calm when handling little one's fever. With good care and routine monitoring, the little one should be recovering in a few days time and becoming stronger after that. So, don't worry, mommies! Fever is manageable!

My Gym Review

Last Saturday, 6th June, I was invited by My Gym City Square Mall to attend trial baby class together with my other 14 mommies friends. I guess most of my readers don't know about this yet. I'm one of the December 2014 mommies group members. From the group, I have met many wonderful mommies and babies. I have also attended fun & exciting play dates & gatherings with fellow mommies & babies (yes, it's really fun when babies are the same age/born in December 2014).

My gym has developed an extraordinary program and facilities devised to help children 4 months thru 10 years of age develop physically, cognitively and emotionally, offering structured, age-appropriate, weekly classes that incorporate music, dance, relays, games, special rides, gymnastics, sports and more.

MY GYM’s having won US Parents’ Choice Awards has designed program in a way that nurtures a child’s natural ability, curiosity and creativity emphasizing on small student-to-teacher ratio to provide individual attention and positive reinforcement

I would really like to thank My Gym for sponsoring us (a group of 15 mommies & babies) to try fun-interactive activities at My Gym, City Square mall. It was my first experience at My Gym & I didn't expect it was going to be really fun & interesting. All babies were about 6 months of age

The duration of the class I attended was 60 minutes. At first, babies were allowed to play round & interact with one another. Baby Calysta really loved the balls pool :) and so were other babies. After that, there were music, singing and dancing guided by well trained teachers. It was really fun & interactive. Mommies/daddies with their little ones were enjoying that session so much. In fact, it was my favorite session because Calysta enjoyed it so much. Next was all babies were allowed to play with a great selection of educational & learning toys with games guided by fun loving teachers

Moreover, there were also gymnastics & sports activities catered to suit young babies aged 6 months or less (our babies are more or less 6 months old) I didn't know babies can roll over and I didn't expect babies enjoy swinging so much. My Gym proved me that babies were capable to do gymnastics actions we previously thought they weren't able to do so. Babies are more than capable than what we think with the right guidance from skillful teachers

It was overall a good experience and I would join again

My Diaper Tips, Pampers Journey Part 4

Here we are!! It's already PART 4 of our journey with Pampers Baby Dry and for the past one month, having Pampers Baby Dry is our life is a blessing. Not only, I don't need to put on cloth diaper on Baby EJ anymore (of course, it saves so much of my time cleaning his poop off his cloth diaper and saves water too, hee-hee..), his bum remains soft & clean ~ totally free of rashes. I'm really grateful to be given an opportunity to try on Pampers Baby Dry and I'm a big fan now ~ going to use Pampers Baby Dry for long term & also my next newborn, hee-hee...

Part 4 of my journey with Pampers Baby Dry is about Diaper-related tips. I'm sure every mommy is different, tips are very individual too.. One works for one baby, may not work for the other baby. So, it's really nice to hear diaper tips from other mommies too, right??

Here are my tips that are so far workable for baby EJ since he was a newborn and of course, different stage of baby's life requires different technique of cleaning & changing. The older, the more difficult to change and to care baby's bottom, especially those active young toddlers who are busily walking, hee-hee... (like baby EJ)

Stuff you need:

1) Baby wipes
2) Clean Water + Cotton balls/wipes. (Use boiled water if the baby is still a newborn)
3) Diaper cream/ointment

And the last one, diaper (obviously)

TIP NO 1: Some babies have more sensitive skin than other babies, so baby wipes might not be suitable for all babies, if your baby has super sensitive bum, don't use baby wipes when baby pees, just dip cotton balls/wipes into a cup of clean water and wipe baby's bum. After all, urine is sterile.

If baby poops, you can still clean & wipe with baby wipes, but make sure to rinse one more time with clean water (same easy technique, use the wet-with water cotton balls/wipes) and make sure you apply diaper cream/ointment to protect baby's healthy bum too..

TIP NO 2: For babies who struggle a lot during diaper change. I understand while it's easier to change when baby is just peeing, how about pooping?? Imagine, the baby is super active, trying to flip over, turning around, sitting down, or even standing up during diaper change ~ pooping, omg!!! poops will be all over your changing station.. Yucky!! So my advise? Bring the baby directly to the toilet, carry him in the upward position/standing up, take off his diaper, wipe his poops with baby wipes while he's standing up in the basin (hold him with one hand, of course) turn on your water, clean the baby's bum with either hand or towel and finally wipe him dry with towel. Simple as that!! You can even clean him at shower, it's so much easier than struggling to clean him up on the bed or changing station. You don't want to change & clean up your bed sheet over and over again, right? Hee-hee

TIP NO 3: If your baby has super bad rashes. It's best to let him wear cloth diaper in the afternoon temporarily. Let his skin rest until it gets better. But it's still pretty impossible to wear cloth diaper at night because you don't want to wake him up every 2-3 hours for diaper change, right? But even to wear cloth diaper in the afternoon during healing period, it's good enough, trust me!! Of course, don't forget your more intensive nappy treatment, yeah?

TIP NO 4: Change your baby's diaper every 3 hours (regardless cloth diaper or disposable diaper), except night/sleeping time.
